In addition to the emergency aid supplied to the Maldives immediately following the tsunami, Maldives Aid has also supplied over 14 tonnes of educational supplies. The aid, supplied by UK schools in response to an appeal for help, was delivered to Male’ in mid May via sea freight. Schools were encouraged to become involved in the project by filling the ‘Happy Buckets’ supplied by the AA; toys, books and school supplies were all donated generously. We hope to continue to develop the relationship between UK and Maldivian schools through a twinning program, through which closer bonds may be forged.
